Timing is Ticking Away....

Recently, I experienced an acceleration of time where God was able to align new friendships quickly. Many times in the Bible, we see the sudden interventions of God, but to truly experience them, we must pay attention to our daily lives and celebrate these answers to prayers when God moves in moments (Acts 2:2; 2 Chronicles 29:36; Isaiah 66:8). Time is often viewed as a commodity; we frequently say we are short on time, busy, and measure our lives by time. However, the reality is that God is outside of time, so the way He works with time is vastly different from our understanding.

Four months ago, I dropped my watch, and the glass face cracked. When it happened, I heard the Holy Spirit say, 'Time is stopped.' After processing this with Him during the following week, I understood that He was conveying, 'You're on My time. Stop looking at your watch, stop trying to control time, and stop trying to be on time when I am making you on time.' This truly caught my attention because, not only did I buy a new watch, but that new watch, within a day, also stopped working. I went to exchange it and got another new watch. Yes, you guessed it; it stopped time again. It was only then that I had a conversation with God, saying, 'Okay, God, I surrender to Your time, Your way of doing things in this season. Teach me, teach me God what this looks like in this season.'"

The book of Ecclesiastes says everything has its time and then goes through all the different times out there. It's essential to know which season we are in. In the ‘natural’ the current season is Summer, in the ‘spirit’ I am in summer too - it's harvest time, a reaping of things I sowed in previous seasons. In different seasons you expect and prepare for different things. It's important to discern the season you're in, and know there's grace for it!

One thing I know is that God makes everything beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). If it's not beautiful yet, God is still working on it. I'm learning to rest in His time during this season.

Life Application:

  1. Read Ecclesiastes 3

  2. Ask Holy Spirit what season you're in now? Who does God want to be for you in this season?

SUMMER (harvest)
AUTUMN (pruning)
WINTER  (waiting)
SPRING   (new growth)

3. Ask Holy Spirit for a word and a scripture for the season you are in. For example, my word for my current season is DELIGHT, and my scripture is Psalms 37:4 “ Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
